This policy describes the privacy practices on our website. Any personally identifiable data that you submit to us (for example via web forms) is processed according to the Languages International Personal Data Policy.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Some visitors to our website choose to interact with it in ways that require it to gather personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information gathered depends on the type of interaction.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the website we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/.

After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Web forms

If a visitor chooses to submit one of our web forms, for example the contact form, their IP address and other potentially personally-identifying or personally-identifying will be collected. The amount and type of information gathered depends on the web form the visitor submits. In each case, The Literacy Professionals collects such information only as is necessary or appropriate to fulfil the purpose of the visitor’s interaction with us. The Literacy Professionals does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described in our Personal Data Policy. Visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent them from engaging in certain website-related activities.

In particular, when using the OET Intensive Enrolment Form linked to from our website, note that it is a Google Form and not part of The Literacy Professionals website. You might be subjected to cookies that Google uses on its site, and any data you submit via that form will be sent to Google’s servers for processing. Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

Embedded content from other websites

We use Google Analytics to view aggregated statistics about the behaviour of visitors to our website so that we can improve the website. For example, it is useful for us to know which cities most of our website visitors come from and which pages of our website are the most popular.

Who we share your data with

Any personally identifiable data that you submit to us (for example via web forms) is processed and shared according to Languages International’s Personal Data Policy.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Data which you  submit through one of our application forms is retained indefinitely, so that we can continue to provide you services after your course has finished. For example, if you lose your school Leaving Certificate, we would be able to email you a copy. However, if you request for your data to be deleted, we will do so when the data is no longer legally needed. This means we will not be able to reissue your certificate or confirm that you have studied with The Literacy Professionals at Languages International.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this website, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Data collected by this website may cross international borders. Our servers are in New Zealand. We also use third-party service providers as previously described above. The data they collect is transmitted to their servers in other countries for processing. These countries may include the USA.

If you chose to submit a web form or leave a comment on our website, the data collected is sent to our web server in New Zealand where it is saved in the website’s database and emailed to The Literacy Professionals.

If you apply to take an OET preparation course, the information that you submit to us via the Google Form linked to on our website is also stored in our school database, which is hosted in Australia. This information will be processed and shared according to the Languages International Personal Data Policy.

Website Privacy Policy Changes

The Literacy Professionals may change its Website Privacy Policy from time to time, and at our sole discretion. We encourage visitors to frequently check this page for any changes to our Website Privacy Policy. Your continued use of this site after any change in this Privacy Policy will constitute your acceptance of such change.
